Silence Is Golden

It seems we live in a world filled with noise. Down through the years new inventions have included telephones, radios, recordings, television, alarms, intercoms, doorbells, horns, and whistles. And yes indeed, God is the inventor of receivers, better known as our ears. Ever since the beginning of those man made things, more and more transmitters have stolen our silence.
It almost takes silence to read and understand a good book. It takes some semblance of silence to provide a background for restful sleep at night. Most classrooms are silent when students concentrate during study time or testing. And we definitely need quiet when we pray and talk to God. Silence can clear the mind and give us peace. Peace is the fruit of silence. There's an old saying, "Silence Is  Golden". Let's try it more often.
