Somewhere along the line Gene Lyons seems to have left the word honesty
out of his behavior except for accusing others of not being honest. With
Lyons, the word may be like beauty in that it lies in the eyes of the
beholder which happens to be Lyons looking at the liberal bilge he is so
fond of parroting. In fact, compared to Lyons, Edgar Bergen made
Mortimer Snerd look intelligent and a paragon of virtue. The only fact
Lyons presented in his column,
Intellectual honesty is in short supply, published 11-07-2007, without twisting it was the
debacle of the phony press conference by a FEMA lackey. I agree with him
on the phoniness, but that is where Lyons and I part company on FEMA.

After this rebuttal was written
FOX NEWS reported on 11-10-2007,
that while in Iowa, a member of Hillary’s campaign asked a student to
pose a question about global warming to Hillary. They (the campaign
lackeys) of course made excuses concerning why it was done. News Flash!
One day later another rigged question popped up. In cards, that is
called stacking the deck. The word for it is dishonest. Will Gene now
take issue with those obvious and deliberate blunders or will he remain
deaf and dumb to his icon’s proclivities to behavior dishonorably?

Never at a loss to tout big government, Lyons was critical of those who
would do away with FEMA. He indicated it was ludicrous [my word] to
[expect] (“Let) people [to] deal with their own floods, fires,
hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts, tornadoes, whatever.” He should look
at the progress made in Mississippi by Governor Haley Barbour and his
troops without receiving the wonderful help of FEMA compared to
Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco and Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans.
Both of them dilly dallied before Katrina arrived and didn’t do that
much after the carnage, waiting on the federal government to bail them
out, literally and figuratively. Where Barbour got the people organized
and moving, Nagin has gone back to dilly dallying while New Orleans
suffers due to lack of leadership expecting more government aid.
|
|
Lyons goes on with the ridicule of those who [say] “Expecting
government handouts every time the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride
through American communities only weakens the national character.” Then
he wrote “Nobody actually believes such things.” Wrong Gene,
conservatives believe that people should not depend on the federal
government for aid except as outlined in the Constitution. Do you need
to be reminded of New Orleans and Ray Nagin again? The ruination of the
personal character of independence in New Orleans is the ill conceived
baby of the “all so helpful liberals” of the federal government which
has given birth to the loss of independence nationwide.

|
Then Lyons careened into a diatribe about Rush Limbaugh making the phony
soldier remark. The more he (Lyons) disputes the truth, the more
twisting he does in an attempt to extract his foot from his mouth, or
maybe that should be attempting to unscramble the letters on his
keyboard. The truth speaks for itself in this matter. No more space will
be devoted to it since Lyons is in enough trouble with his version of
it. I will be kind since my momma told me to have compassion on dim
wits, better known as liberal leftist Democrats. I think my mother was
wrong.
|
|
The champion of twist held up, in an around about way, retired General
Wesley Clark and retired Marine John Murtha, as true soldiers, truth
tellers all. (It is very noticeable he left out John Kerry.) There is
enough known about the three, including Kerry, to be highly suspicious
of their conduct while in the military. However in Lyon’s book, a true
soldier is one who can trash a true conservative.

I have saved the best for last. Lyons wrote of Limbaugh: “The point is
that he’s a faker … but for this country to regain its footing, some
semblance of intellectual honesty isn’t just possible for political
partisans, it’s essential.” Yes it is essential to practice honesty in
all forms and Lyons ought to begin practicing the honesty he so desires
instead of accusing those who are practicing it of being fakers. That
would be refreshing, but that might give the readers of his column a
stroke, so go ahead and write your tripe Gene while you ponder on the
meaning of honesty. To do anything else might ruin your day. Hear! Hear!
