When politicians and other speak the word values is heard repeatedly. The context is along the lines of our values, American values, values that we traditionally hold dear. One fact that is very noticeable is that the speakers, no matter the party, seldom identify the values or list them. It is much like the nut job when he ran for the Oval Office the first time. He used the words hope and change, but didn’t identify the nature of the change and the foundation of the hope. He left that definition to the hearers to apply individual definitions. The use of the word values is similar. The definition depends on who is speaking.

It is necessary to listen closely when Democrats speak of values by looking behind their much bloviating to figure out what they mean. It isn’t difficult if one is paying attention. What follows is the content of their values: a level playing field for leftist ideas for government control; fairness-distribution of income; equal rights for all-homosexual marriage; religious tolerance equals down with belief in God; diversity-all have rights whether citizens or not. That is a short list of the values the leftist/Democrats hold.

Conservative speakers don’t always identify the content of values either, but you are more likely to hear the words God, Constitution, God given rights, the First and Second Amendments, plus the others. Still, some of the speakers on the Republican side do not mention anything but the word values as if they are afraid of being accused of being narrow mind, bigoted, politically incorrect, hateful and divisive. So they cower and speak in meaningless platitudes; the leftist/Democrats win another battle of words by intimidation.

As bad as the meaningless use of the word values by politicians, writers of letters are no better. They use specifics to expose themselves routinely. The writer of a letter to the Voices column, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette March 19, 2013 wrote “What this country needs is a separation of religion and government which we, in no way, have now. Just as hospitals strive to keep germs within the walls of quarantine ward, so should religion be kept within the walls of the church, there for those who are interested.”  The writer expressed the leftist content of the word values by stating certain values. If anyone cares to look, the reason that we have a problem with government supported immorality is God’s principles are no longer guiding the ones in office, whether elected or appointed. Jesus said let your light shine and people like that writer are making every effort to keep it from shining. Jesus also said Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (Matthew 5:15) Confining belief within the walls of the church/building is analogous to the bushel hiding the light.

Leftist/Democrats, (even some Republicans) do not like constraints and values with a foundation of substance irritate them. A federal judge, Audrey Fleissig, in Missouri stuck down the objection to the immorality of forced providing of birth control. She cited (according to the article the by AP) a provision in the U.S. Constitution declaring that federal laws take precedence over contradictory state laws. That would be Article VI, clause III, which does not state at all what she ruled. She conveniently left out the words which shall be made in Pursuance thereof, a reference to the laws being made in conformance to the Constitution, to which the nut job care law doesn’t conform. (See Professorial Nonsense for an article on Article VI.) Obviously the judge believes in the superiority of the federal government. She twisted the meaning of the Constitution to support her ruling and nowhere in the article is their any mention of what Article VI contains.

Without biblical and constitutional values being the foundation for the republic, we have become an anything goes society both in and out of government. The leftist/Democrats aided and abetted by citizens like the letter writer and that judge, are doing all that they can do to keep meaningful values away from the public. The next time a leftist/Democrat speaks of values and you have the opportunity, ask them to specifically list what they mean by values. Prepare for meaningless nonsense from them because a truthful answer will expose their nakedness.
