Fidelity to standards isn’t easy for humanity. Adam and Eve didn’t
remain faithful to God’s instruction. Moses went up to the mountain and
while he was gone the children of Israel strayed from God. After the
church began Paul warned of those who would introduce beguiling
doctrines calling them grievous wolves. [Acts 20:29] For I know
this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you,
not sparing the flock. Then he said, [Acts 20:30] Also of
your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away
disciples after them. The truth is that no matter what the
standard their will be those who will violate it.

While God doesn’t require an oath for his followers, we can apply the
principle of fidelity to the nation’s leaders and servants. There is an
oath taken by those going into government service to honor, uphold,
defend and protect the Constitution. Essentially it means that they
promise to respect and follow the provisions of the constitute parts in
relation to the whole, to operate the limited type government that it
defines. James story said, "A good government implies two things;
first, fidelity to the objects of the government; secondly, a knowledge
of the means, by which those objects can be best attained."-- Joseph
Story (Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833)

The problems begin when those who promise fail to follow their oath. The
first line of defense is Congress which passes the laws. The
Constitution expressly limits the actions of Congress in Article I,
Section 8, but the limits have been ignored for years due to erroneous
decisions by the Supreme Court centered on the two words common welfare.
If we apply the idea to different doctrines than what is expressed in
the Constitution and the writings of the founders, we find the same idea
expressed in Hebrews 13:9: Be not carried about with divers and
strange doctrines. Our leaders are being carried away with
strange, false, and perverse doctrines of all kinds.

Paul warned of wolves as was written above. The Supreme Court members
take an oath to honor the Constitution, and yet they have used ideas
from other nations to form their opinions and render decisions that
affect all of us. They have spoken perverse things that show infidelity
to the nation’s laws and institutions. We must remember that the
founders set up our system so we could remain a free people with freedom
and liberty that would ensure that we wouldn’t be subject to foreign
interests. But when the Supreme Court uses ideas and laws from foreign
lands, we by decree become subject to those decisions which in effect
limit our right to makes laws suitable for our system and existence. The
War of Independence was fought to end rule by England and now due to the
infidelity to our system, the Supreme Court has made us subject to
foreign principles and ideas. Sadly, the ones who so ruled see no harm
in their using foreign ideas in their decisions.

Peter in speaking about Paul’s fidelity to the gospel in his writings
wrote: [2 Peter 3:16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in
them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the
other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Many members of
Congress and the Supreme Court have demonstrated that they are
unlearned, unstable, and as such they wrest the plain and clear meaning
of the doctrines in the Constitution, destroying the system that we were
given to guide us through the years. Not only are they taking a path
that will destroy them, it will destroy all of us as the nation
deteriorates into sin, tyranny, and lawlessness to its ultimate demise.

|
The people of this nation face perilous times and only a return to the
Old Paths of fidelity to those things greater than the people themselves
will the nation sight itself and march strongly into a future of freedom
and liberty. The standards of the Bible and the Constitution, not those
of the despotic Supreme Court, will once again serve us and put us back
on a firm foundation.
