SURVIVAL OF A NATION  Part VII Sin Shame Responsibility

The lesson you are about to read is an expansion of the words of John Adams. The topic is about sin, shame, and responsibility. At the outset, it is necessary to point out that without a moral foundation the Constitution can be twisted to allow any depraved speech and conduct that the human mind is capable of producing. To lay the foundation for the discussion, the Bible must be consulted on the chosen topic.

Sin is behavior that God says is contrary to his way and Jesus said that unless people follow him they will be led to destruction. [Mat 7:13] Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  The principle of not following a leader can be applied to the Constitution. It is the guide for government and political leadership, which when not properly applied it causes the destruction of the nation from both internal and external forces. In the same manner, when Jesus spoke of his way as salvation [Mat 7:14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it ... The Constitution is the guide for preventing destruction of the nation and the salvation of the nation.

Are godly moral principles involved in keeping a nation strong? A combination of the founder’s thoughts and the Bible will serve as a guide for the determination. The First Amendment protects free speech and the question is often asked of how far does  it go in protecting free speech. Remember that god based morality was the foundation of the founder’s thoughts. First, look at the words of Paul: [Eph 5:11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. [Eph 5:12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. The Bible tells us that there are things that people do that should not be openly discussed because it is a shame to do so. In this day and age all types of ungodly speech are given license and visual media are exhibited, all under the name of freedom of speech. (TV shows, movies, and the news are full of such items.)

Any attempt by the government, and even by private initiative, to limit such conduct is attacked under the guise of denial of freedom of speech. (As an aside, many of the same ones who protest under the claim of censorship and loss of free speech, also are attempting to stop the name of Jesus from being used by those who offer prayers. While many readers may not agree, the free speech of the First Amendment is to protect free speech of those who wish to speak of religious matters and or to criticize the government. It is a real stretch to believe that the founders were including smut in the free speech realm because people of that day had a sense of shame that far exceeds that of today.) Jesus is the light; they know that he is, and the only way for their ungodly ways to ever prevail is to extinguish the light of Christ. The founders believed that if they believed anything and an examination of their writings prove it.

The key to a stable nation is a responsible people who follow God and accept the teaching that each person is responsible for living in such a manner that society is benefited with good and not besieged by evil. At the root of the production of ungodliness is money. Paul told Timothy: [1 Tim 6:10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. Note that it is the love of money that produces the evil, not money as such,  and along with that are other teachings of scripture: [Mark 7:20] And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. [Mark 7:21] For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, [Mark 7:22] Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: [Mark 7:23] All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

The United States is being defiled by sin, lack of shame, and irresponsibility. Godly people can turn it around by rising up speaking of Gods’ way forcefully but respectfully. If we don’t, our nation is doomed as were all those who went the way off Ashdod before us. We won’t be spared as God is no respecter of persons or nations.
