God spoke to Abraham and said: [Genesis 22:17] That in blessing I
will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the
stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and
thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; In like manner,
the founders of this nation gave us a system of government that, when
operated properly, brings the blessings of freedom and liberty to all
who will follow the constitutional foundation they put in place to guide
this nation.

It is never wrong to quote the Preamble to the Constitution, especially
when the discussion is about the promise given to us by the words found
therein: We the people of the United States, in order to form a more
perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide
for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the
blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and
establish this Constitution for the United States of America. When a
comparison of the foregoing is made to the words of God to Abraham,
there is a remarkable parallel of thought and idea. The foundational
promise of personal and national blessing is not much different in the
promise given to Abraham. We see that the founders made provision for
the future (posterity) as did God’s words to Abraham and protection from
enemies.

Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, after preaching the gospel made the
following statement: [Acts 2:39] For the promise is unto you, and
to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord
our God shall call. Granted, the words of promise spoken by
Peter are about the path of salvation, but the Constitution contains the
path for the salvation of the nation. Just as the gospel of Christ
requires fidelity to the promise of God to ensure salvation, fidelity to
the principles of the Constitution will ensure the salvation for the
United States. The promise isn’t only to the ones living but also to the
ones to yet be born, the posterity of the nation. If we destroy the
posterity, the nation will die a slow and painful death.

It must be understood that personal morals are essential to a healthy
nation as they are to the health of the church. The following principles
are as true for the nation as they are the people of God: [Acts
20:29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves
enter in among you, not sparing the flock. We are witnessing
the degrading of the nation’s morals by those who are putting their own
desires (pandering for votes) ahead of the well being of the nation,
which in effect is assaulting the flock and leading it to destruction.

Jesus in speaking of the way of salvation said:
[Matthew 7:13] Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and
broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which
go in thereat: [Matthew 7:14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is
the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The people who want to follow their own desires refuse to follow
the narrow way outlined for government by the Constitution in the same
way that people refuse to follow the narrow way of Jesus.

Peter wrote: [2 Pet 3:16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in
them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the
other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Those who refuse
to follow the Constitution, wrest, twist, and otherwise destroy the
meaning to push their nefarious agendas. Most assuredly, the founders
didn’t include any destructive conduct in their ideas of freedom and
liberty when they set out to build a nation that would endure.

|
The promise of God to Abraham and founder’s promise to us rests upon the
allegiance and fidelity to that which is larger than any one person.
Until the people of this nation resolve to follow the paths set before
us, the survival of this people is in jeopardy, not only for those of us
living now, but to the posterity as well.
