Newt Gingrich said that “human life does not begin at conception
but at "implantation and successful implantation" because if you
say life begins at conception
"you're going to open up an extraordinary range of very
difficult questions." He also said that his "friends" who
take "ideological positions" that human life does begin at
conception "don't then follow through on the logic of" that
postion[sic]. But are the questions which Gingrich believes
exists that difficult to understand? For those who worship
abortion it would pose severe problems.
Not unlike Gingrich in one respect is
Kathleen Turner, an actress and chairwoman of Planned
Parenthood’s Board of Advocates who makes fun of the
personhood bills that are considered by various state
legislatures. Her view follows “And then we have the
so-called ‘personhood’ bills,” she said. “Now these would give
full legal rights to a zygote, at the moment sperm meets egg.
Frankly, I have always wondered, ‘How do they know?’” A
given zygote does not know its existence any more than Turner
knew when she was conceived. Gingrich does not know what life
means in reference to conception and he and Turner, like so
many, do not see the truth about life or understand the nature
of life, so let’s expand the thinking on the matter.
When God breathed life into the nostrils of Adam, man was made
alive. Genesis 2:7 then the LORD God formed man from the
dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life; and the man became a living being. (NRSV-KJV has
soul instead of being. Being is the correct rendering of the
Hebrew word nephesh.) The emphasis of Genesis is
on God giving life to all of creation, but he breathed life into
man to make him in his (God) image, Genesis 1:26-27. We can
conclude that humans are the special creation of God and
everything else that God did was for the benefit of mankind.
Life began with God and then God’s instruction to Adam and Eve
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful,
and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
(Genesis 1:28 KJV) One of the roles of the man and woman, a
husband and his wife, is to reproduce more humans. When
pro-creation at conception takes place does life begin? Now
think carefully due to what follows. No, life does not begin at
conception; life already exists in the sperm and the egg and
their union creates a new separate life which is neither the man
nor the woman, but has the genetic and DNA information relative
to both
the male and the female. When God breathed life into Adam and
then created Eve, he didn’t create life again as with Adam, he
created a new life called woman.
Gingrich says that to say life begins at conception opens up
very difficult questions. What are the difficult questions
except the faulty thinking humans. If for some reason the united
sperm and egg fail to implant in the uterine wall, death of both
occur, and that is a normal physical event. A miscarriage is a
normal event and is part of God’s physical design for humans and
the lower life forms of his creation. Abortion cannot be
justified by saying that miscarriages occur. Miscarriages are
part of normal life while abortion is man produced and wrong.
Kathleen Turner misses the point entirely. The role of the woman
is to protect the new life that has begun within her body. Those
like Turner who support killing the unborn need to stop their
“oh so lofty thinking” and consider that they are in this world
because their mothers chose to give birth to them. Those who
have the gift of life make the issue difficult to understand or
question if the zygote knows that it exists. It does not, but
that does not justify killing the new life. To kill a new human
life is murder no matter the excuses offered for doing so
by Kathleen Turner and the others who support killing the
unborn.
New life is what replenishes the earth whether it is humans or
the lower parts of the creation. Life keeps society viable and
dynamic and without life, the civilization will die. God gave
man all that is needed to keep society stable and the
Declaration of Independence declares that as well. We hold
these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of
Happiness. The founding of he republic states the
biblical truth that God created man; that man has God given
rights beginning with life; has liberty and the right to pursue
God given happiness. Abortion deprives the new life the right to
life, human liberty and the right to pursue happiness. Those who
support abortion have life, liberty and possibly happiness so
what is the reason they wish to deprive the unborn that which
they possess? Could selfishness, inconvenience and the
unwillingness to cope with difficulties be the reasons among
several others?
But do they have liberty and happiness? When abortion supporters
are so busy defending the indefensible do they have liberty? And
in the same vein, are they truly happy? They will have both if
they will accept that God created life and that the zygote is
the beginning of a new human life.
