The situation that the United States finds itself in today is a direct
outgrowth of the people not learning from the mistakes of the past.
George Santayana said, “Those who cannot
learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” We are repeating it because
the people in general haven’t been taught, and the leaders refuse to
accept that the path they set before us is wrong. Man has become the
guide instead of God and the Constitution.

As the man in the White House becomes better
known to the people, some are beginning to understand that his change
and hope is nothing but smoke and mirrors designed to install an agenda
that is leading us to ruin. Two car companies are now owned by the
government; banks are under control of his minions; czars are setting
wages; and bureaucratic departments are issuing unconstitutional edicts
to effect more control over us. They are getting by with their behavior
because far too many people see nothing wrong with it. After all, they
have been taught that government knows best no matter what it
(politicians) decides to do.

In the second article, mention was made about
the support that the government receives from callers to talk shows and
in letters to newspapers. Support for the government has morphed into
even stronger support by certain groups for the man in the White House,
much like the support for FDR in his glory days. There is no rhyme or
reason or rationale for the support the nut job (aka Barack Hussein
Obama) is receiving from those supporters, but based on their comments
and the letters it is a safe to say that they support him because he is
black; he is a Democrat; he promised change; he is correcting the Bush
years; he is helping the poor, and on it goes. They never stop to think
that what he says is false. That is except for the promise of change no
one understands except him. The foundation for all this ill-advised
support is the lack of education in many areas, not the least of which
has been and is the neglect of teaching about our constitutional
republic.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on
education each year and all we have to show for it are expensive
buildings; graduates who can’t write, speak or do simple math; ill
prepared for the rigors of life in the working world. In the words of
Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Comics, “What me worry?” Perish the
thought of worry. The government will provide for everything. But what
will they do when the goose that lays the golden eggs runs out of eggs?
They don’t worry about it since the government will take care of them.
This is the sorry state of mind in the United States in the year 2010,
and if we the people do not rise up and take control of our government
at every level, our state of life will become most miserable and
worrisome.
