THE SHADOW KNOWS

You're cruisin' around having fun -
I knew you'd turn on the charm,
By revving up your engine
Thinking: Fast would do no harm!

You go a few blocks and think
Wow!  This is fun, here goes,
You bring your speed up to 60
But lurking close:  The Shadow Knows.

It lets you go ahead as you have fun
With your fast new fancy car,
Why you step right up to 70
Boy, this thing is great so far!

What fun it is to have free time
To do as you please and at your will,
You figure 70 is fun, so step it up to 80 -
This is a fast car; what a thrill!

The Shadow Knows as it tags along
Not far behind you as you go through a light,
Now you hear the siren and your nerves
Come into play as you plan your new plight.

You suddenly panic and don't quite
Think of what your next step will be,
Go a little faster maybe, or
Just slow down; thinking you'll stay free.

The Shadow Knows you can't
Go any faster, and you won't get too far,
As the law is so much quicker
Than your supposedly speedy car!

You let up on the gas as the red lights flash -
Rolling down the window you see,
An officer walk up with his ticket book
You know this has to be for me!

You see, it doesn't pay to speed and
Try to escape the law this way,
So you ask God for forgiveness please!
And then you continue to pray.

As  you cruise at a fast  speed -
You get a ticket; that's the way it goes,
Getting caught is no secret for:
     THE SHADOW KNOWS!
