THE TRUTH IS DANGEROUS   Part I

Desperate people do desperate things and that is being seen in Iraq as the thugs and criminals attempt to suppress the idea of liberty in that nation. Truth and liberty scares them and they will do anything to maintain the tyranny over the people. The squeamish and the sympathizer’s yell that it isn’t worth the effort to help bring a new government to the people. Such beliefs aren’t new and have always been a part of the behavior of those who resist the change that will take power and position from them. They in the process of giving their warnings help perpetuate the slaver to despotic rulers.

History gives ample examples of those who resist change. Jesus went to the cross because he preached freedom and liberty that comes by following his way of life. He said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32. He was questioned about that and that teaching is still being challenged. Truth leads to freedom and there are those who don’t want freedom to become popular. That may help explain the behavior we are now seeing being exhibited by individuals and several groups, but more on that later.

The founders of this nation gave us a system based on the principles of God no matter what the atheists and their ilk continually spout, claiming they were simply deists or not believers at all.  Patrick Henry said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”  (Patrick Henry reprinted and distributed Soame Jennings' book, View of the Internal Evidence of Christianity .<109

Jesus Christ was recognized as the epitome of truth and freedom by the founders and as such those who believe differently have the freedom to do so without being in danger. That is far different than what is found in other countries where it is dangerous to believe in Jesus if Christianity isn’t the approved religion. While the government of the United States is prevented from establishing any religion, it is undeniably true that God and Jesus were the driving forces for the founders.  (A later article will explore the meaning of religion as used by the founders.)

The apostles were hassled, imprisoned, and executed for preaching Jesus Christ. His message threatened the established rule of the Jews and the Emperors of the Roman Empire. Their strict rule was challenged with the message of truth and freedom and had to be stopped.

In like manner, the men who founded this nation suffered profoundly at the hand of English rule and their fellows in this nation who wanted to acquiesce to British rule.  England considered truth and freedom dangerous to their rule. All those previously cited above considered truth and freedom dangerous to them and it is no different today.

The despots of Iraq and other nations must suppress the truth to survive, or so they think. The forces in this nation are no different. Truth and freedom are dangerous for their agenda of maintaining power, position, and income.  If they prevail, it will destroy this nation and instead of being free they too will be enslaved by the very ideology they think is so wonderful, that of being free of the moral and ethical constraints found in God’s teachings that has made this a free nation.
