THOSE WHO TRY TO BE GOD

History books and the Bible are filled with accounts of those who think they can replace God and rule over that which they have no power. They don’t believe it, but God is not impressed with their ideas of ruling grandeur.

Shortly after the creation, Adam and Eve decided to play God and be as all knowing as our Creator. That didn’t work out well at all and placed all of creation under the sentence of death.

Herod Agrippa was proclaimed by the people to be the voice of a god, not a man. He died 5 days later in terrible agony, though Luke only records that he was eaten by worms. (Acts 12:21-23) Historians believe it was an ailment that caused intestinal muscles to convulse in ever increasing worm like movements.

Nero, the man called the Beast in Revelation, was one of the most hideous and maniacal rulers known up to that time, and perhaps since; his behavior was so vile it was akin to the ravages of a rabid animal completely out of control. The depraved man committed suicide rather than submit to being publicly flogged to death.

Other rulers have died in various ways when they tried to be God. Mussolini was hung; Hitler shot himself; Saddam Hussein was also hung. All of those should be a fair warning to any who would continue as they did and are doing.

Is the writer suggesting that some terrible event will fall upon the man in the White House? No, those names above are examples of the men who tried to replace God by enslaving their people in evil ways. They enacted restraints on the citizens to further their power and to maintain themselves in office and in the end, they died with intense pain just like the pain they inflicted on the people over whom they ruled.

The Republic of the United States has a situation that isn’t quite like the aforementioned in that more than a single person has attempted to play God. From the man in the Oval Office to those in Congress, we see them dictating and issuing edicts that makes government the god of all. In other words, government is fast becoming the supreme ruler or god of the United States, with the man in the White House the chief crank twister for the god called government.

Yet, there is progression of power that is taking place that few will acknowledge. The power is moving from Congress (government as such) to that of the man in the White House so that no longer is the government playing god; it is the nut job (aka Barack Hussein Obama). His view of himself is very lofty for when he accepted his nominating victory in 2008 he said, "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal … During the campaign he said “we are the ones we have been waiting for.” That is a line from a poem by June Jordan -- "Poem for South African Women" -- published in 1980. He further he said in reference to the economy, “And where Congress is not willing to act, we're going to go ahead and do it ourselves.”

Mr. Nut Job thinks the Constitution is flawed. He says of the Warren Court (United States Supreme Court, Earl Warren, and Chief Justice) “it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.” Never mind that the Constitution is written to limit what the government can do to us, not for us, the man has set himself to the task of making sure the government does things for us, and the result is that it is being done to us; namely our freedom from government and our liberty to live freely are fleeting. Such is the way of those who presume that they should be the lord god, master of all.

Then Chief Justice of the United Supreme Court helped the nut job and Congress with his inane ruling on the medical care with his decree that the law is constitutional. The ruling is no better than plain gibberish when he calls the penalty a tax and nut job says it isn’t a tax but a penalty. All it has done is strengthen the nut job’s plan to become the dictator-in-chief for years to come and emboldened Congress to do whatever they decide to do. Hope you like your new mandated Volt with your choice of colors. How magnanimous of them!

There is one more ominous cloud on the horizon if the nut job wins re-election. Given the Supreme Court’s four liberals and now joined by Roberts, a devastating ruling to our freedom and liberty could very well arrive in the year 2016. What would prevent the Court from ruling that the term limit for the President is unconstitutional since it deprives the people of free choice by rendering a nebulous ruling through the 14th Amendment?

Just as those named above were looked upon as gods by their supporters, a whole host of people are worshipping the Great Nut Job who is replacing Congress and government as the not so great ‘i’ am but he doesn’t see it that way. If history, for the most part, is a record of truth, he will learn one day that it doesn’t pay to try to be God and his supporters will see the light of truth that there is only one true God and will worship him in spirit and in truth. That is Food for Thought.
