Anyone who utters any statement that is counter to prevailing thought will be assailed from every quarter. Jesus, the apostles and early believers met with unrelenting opposition and rage from those who wanted to maintain the status quo. Within that, let us keep status quo mind set is a denial of the truth as well as the refusal to change ones ways and thinking. When that mind set is challenged, a firestorm erupts from those who can’t stand the thought of even hearing the truth.

A firestorm of protest began when Nate Bell, a member of the Arkansas Legislature, said in response to the Boston bombing “I wonder how many Boston liberals spent the night cowering in their homes wishing they had an AR-15 with a hi-capacity magazine?” Based on the vituperative responses it would make you think that he advocated mass murder of innocents. In fact, the liberal stance not only leads to the mass murder of innocents, it has done so repeatedly though the liberals do not want to admit to it, much less read it or hear it.

But take a deep breath and simmer down. Who or what groups are advocating the disarming of law abiding peaceful citizens? A very appropriate hint would be liberals whose names are Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein, Charles Schumer, Harry Reid, the nut job in the White House, the Democrats in the Colorado legislature, the Colorado governor, Andrew Cuomo, and Michael Bloomberg of New York, governor and mayor respectively. There are more culprits including some misguided Republicans and conservatives. These are the people who want to leave us defenseless and cowering behind locked doors along with them. Many of their supporters who agree with them will not put a sign on their properties declaring the area a gun free zone. That would be nothing but utter stupidity and they know it, but they want everyone else to be in gun free zones advertised as such.    

Suppression of the truth is ages old since truth requires changes in thinking and following standards. The children of Israel didn’t like the standards set forth by God and went their own way many times. God told Solomon, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  (II Chronicles 7:14) Though that was written to the children of Israel, the principle applies to the people of the United States. Not everyone qualifies as God’s people, but there isn’t any impedance to the unsaved following God’s path of doing right which was the order of behavior at one time in our republic. Not obeying the gospel to be saved from sin is one thing, but to refuse right and advocate heinous and immoral behavior is quite another. That is the place that the people of the republic find themselves in 2013 as they allow morally decrepit people to set the path the nation is taking and encouraging the people to turn away from God’s way and follow sinful behavior.

When God instructed his people they wouldn’t hear of it. In Psalms 1:6 and 2:1 we find the conditions of that day (1:6) For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? Then in verses 2-3 the problem is revealed The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. In similar fashion that is what is taking place in the United States. Our leaders have set themselves against God and are making every effort to take God out of our lives.  

In 2:1, the word heathen is a reference to the Gentiles of that time who did not know God; but in principle the rulers of today’s world, both in other nations and in the United States are no different than the unruly God denying Gentiles of that day.

Can anyone deny that the leaders of our republic are God denying heathen? Only those who refuse to see the truth will do so. Read the list of names above and add names to it. Will the liberals be honest enough to add their own names to the truth denying crowd or will they continue to rant against God?
