WHAT CHANGE IS COMING? Part I

Euphoria swept the nation propelled by the legions of Barack Hussein Obama supporters. They were championing his word Change with the idea that his change would make their hopes reality. It didn’t take long to learn that their hopes were for more government at the expense of the wage earners and those despised wealthy folks. They wanted national health care paid for by anyone but themselves. They wanted their houses to be safeguarded from repossession even though they bit off more than they could pay. They believed that he would lower energy prices (gasoline) by raising the taxes on oil producers. It is obvious that the euphoria was based on I want, do it for me, and give me more, all of which are selfishness and greed, instead of reasoned thinking based on solid truths that the government cannot produce utopia. As ominous to the continuation of freedom and liberty the hoped for change is, there continues to be a greater danger that is being overlooked by the euphoric believers of Obama, their new messiah.

Let’s roll back the years to Germany after WW I. The nation was in shambles. The people had lost their identity as individuals and collectively as a nation. Their money was worthless; their shops were closed; and manufacturing was mostly non-existent; and a future bleak to none at all. They were a lost people living in a lost downtrodden nation with nothing but despair permeating their lives each day as the sun rose.

Then a man came along that made promises to them that lifted their spirits. He was going to make them a world force and the world would respect them once again. He told them he was a Christian when in fact, he was an agent of Satan, but the people were blinded by his soaring rhetoric and lofty promises. Germany now had a new savior, a messiah who would change their lives and make them a prosperous people again. The change they hoped for never came and their hope was destroyed as the bombs began to fall on their dreams. Their messiah, Adolph Hitler, was a charlatan of the worst kind. The people of Germany paid a horrible price for believing in him. In fact, the whole free world was forced to share in that price to rid the land of that scourge in order to preserve liberty.

Now we move forward to the year 2008. The United States has lost manufacturing jobs of all kinds, especially in the steel industry. The clothing industry has moved to foreign countries. Auto sales are falling off and energy is at an all time high for all forms of it. Taxes and regulations that strangle companies along with union demands for benefits and wages, aided and abetted by politicians who buy votes with union friendly laws, are responsible for the loss of industry and much of the economic mess, which the people battle each day in order to keep their heads above the water.

There doesn’t appear to be any relief in sight for the dilemma since Congress won’t change the way they run the nation and when the politicians do propose a program, it is more of the same ineffectual methods that are causing the trouble. Congressional myopia is so narrow that all they can see is more government fueled by higher taxes. That is how we have gotten to this place in history since 1933 and what do they do, they blame the rich, the wealthy and call them greedy for expecting to keep most their own resources, except for that which is needed for a constitutionally limited government. The liberal politicians (both Republicans and Democrats) and their followers refuse to accept that their folly is causing the problems. They can’t grasp the idea that the government can’t create utopia.
