Letters to the
Voices column of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette newspaper have various
themes and one which is most prevalent is liberals whining about the
dastardly deeds of George Bush and the greedy Republicans who want more.
The whines are mostly that the President is cutting taxes to benefit the
rich and that Republicans are gathering up that which should go to the
less well off, sometimes saying that the rich and the Republicans are
one and the same.

To support those ideas
the liberals are fond of quoting the Bible to prove their point.
Wrong. They are fond of misquoting and taking things out of context to
prove their dubious assertions. They loudly proclaim that Jesus was a
socialist and told people to share their wealth. Jesus did tell people
to share but there isn’t one word in the Bible that comes close to
saying he was a socialist. A socialist believes that government should
force people to share their means where as Jesus was telling the Jews to
voluntarily share their wealth with others. He didn’t preach that the
government should force sharing if the people didn’t voluntarily do so.

The so called rich
(definition given by the all wise politicians who the liberals elect to
office) are castigated and maligned for being rich. The liberals are
fond of quoting and misapplying what Jesus said about the camel going
through the eye of the needle easier than the rich entering heaven. The
teaching is that those with a lot often think more of their wealth than
they do their fellow man and are reluctant to give part of it to others.
This teaching is cited to justify the government’s taking from them so
more means can be given to the poor. Again they are wrong, wrong, wrong,
about wealth and giving.

The Bible is very clear
about wealth and the responsibility of those who have it. Paul told
Timothy these words: “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they
be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they
be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate
(means share); Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation
against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” I
Timothy 6:17-19. The verses fit the words of Jesus to the rich man and
the camel perfectly. It can be seen by all who will learn the truth that
God doesn’t condemn wealth; doesn’t define what it is as to amount; and
does speak to being responsible with it. In addition there will come a
time in everyone’s life when doing good won’t be possible for a lot of
reasons so don’t let the opportunities slip by is the remainder of
Paul’s teaching.

Now to let more air out
of the liberal sails, I challenge them to show anyone where their
socialist ideas of the government forcing distribution of wealth can be
found in the Constitution. And to take away their patented answer they
usually give, that the welfare clause of the Preamble, “promote the
general Welfare” and the words of Section 8: Clause 1, “provide
for the common Defence and general Welfare,” aren’t license for the
government to take from one and give to another. Those who so insist are
either deliberately subverting the Constitution for their own ends or
have refused to learn the meaning. That judges have ruled differently is
one of the reasons there is a problem with understanding the meaning in
the Constitution, but wrong rulings don’t make social give away programs
Constitutional.

Whine on you liberals.
We who know better laugh each time you spout nonsense. Liberal nonsense
is part of the freedom of speech and those who hear it must be able to
counter with the truth. I just have.
