WHINING LIBERALS Part I

Nothing sets off the liberal Democrats, atheists, and homosexuals like the truth plainly spoken.  Norman Gentry, Mountain View, Arkansas wrote a letter to Voices, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, in which he used words that inflamed the sensitive crowd who don’t like truth. The most indignant reply was from a writer, who lives in a north Arkansas city, and who was very put out by the words Mr. Gentry used. She accused him of bigotry because he spoke them in opposition to the blowing and bleating of liberals, homosexuals, and atheists.

Now to the words he used which will be shown how they are used in the scriptures. (The verses used herein are to Christians but the principle apply to the lost and anti-god crowd) The words begin with enemy, used in various contexts but the one which fits here is from Paul in Galatians 4:16: Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?  Then James 4:4: whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Lastly Philippians 3:18-20: (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: The quoted verses fit a lot of people in this nation in addition to those living in Arkansas. Verse 20 is the one Mr. Gentry and his fellow Christians follow.

The next word is ignorant which Paul used in Romans 10:2-3 concerning Israel:  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Obviously, those to whom Mr. Gentry referred fit the teaching in  the foregoing verses. While there isn’t a Greek word for stupid, when one ignores God and his truth it is stupid, especially when God can be known as Paul said in Romans 1:20-22: For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, which brings us to the word fools:  The word fools in the verse means unreflecting, never applying the mind to moral and religious truth. (A variant meaning is to be in a cloud of fumes or smoke.)

The word godless isn’t in the Bible but the words without God are: Paul spoke to the Ephesians in 2:12 about their former sin filled life while not part of the new covenant of Christ: 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: It is proper to say that those of whom Mr. Gentry spoke are godless since they show they are without God, but they do have a god. The question remains. Who or what is their god?

Those who wish to avoid offending anyone always castigate those who speak the truth and try to silence them with threats of censorship if they don’t conform to the dictates of the offended.

There are several more words Mr. Gentry used that the letter writer thought improper and which will be explored in the next article.  In Sorting It Out, it is clear that Mr. Gentry hit home with his letter and the haters of truth are crying foul.
