Every human being has a god, whether the God who created all and owns all that we see, or some false entity that is worshipped in place of the magnificent God of the heavens. When a particular individual who denies God was told that he and everyone else has a god of some description, he vehemently denied it. But it was and is obvious that he worships many things such as government, and most of all, self. 

One of the religions that is often cited by the unbelievers is Mithra; they claim that the scriptures were stolen from that belief and others and they use that for an excuse to deny Jesus and God. A time line of religions shows that the false religions rose long after the beginning of the circulation of the books and letters of the Old Testament. The other reasons for their argument not being valid are that the scriptures were passed around orally and were not written until years later. Unbelievers in all eras began to develop their own religions and actually stole the Word of God to create their own perversions of the message.

When Paul went to Athens Greece, he saw the altars set up to honor the various gods. Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. 23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. (Acts 17: 22-23) The word superstitious is a compound word made of two other Greek words which indicate that the men believed supernatural spirits that had bad natures (Strong’s #G1142; #G1169 dread, faithless, fearful-KJV; #G1174 more religious than others-too superstitious-KJV.) The people of the modern day too have many gods and daily the news proves it to be true.

The government for years has been the great god for the Republic of the United States. The citizens have been led to believe that government is omnipotent which makes it capable of doing whatever the politicians and bureaucrats decide to do. That has caused no end of trouble through the years. The people continue to ask for more from the fools in D.C. and in the process, they ignore Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. That they do have other gods is the source of the trouble.

Government in general has been supplanted by government by one man, the nut job inhabiting the Oval Office. He said, when campaigning in 2008, that our country was the most magnificent country in the world and we are here to change it. If that isn’t a puffed up idea of omnipotence, then please explain what he meant.

A comedian, Jamie Foxx, said on a TV show "First of all, giving honor to God and our lord and savior, Barack Obama!” That is exactly the way that his supporters view him and if the truth be known, the nut job views himself the same way. His words and actions point to that as true when he makes such statements as “if Congress won’t do what I want, I’ll do it myself.”  (Not his exact words, but the meaning is the same.)

Since the terrible event in Connecticut, gun control is the latest object of worship, second only to the nut job. The followers of the nut job believe every word he says on the subject without thinking of the ramifications of what is proposed. At one time, very few gave firearms a second thought. They were a natural part of life in the republic, but now as the nation has moved away from common sense based on God, firearms are taboo while the nut job claims to have the power to solve the problem. He doesn’t, but certain people are rallying behind him to the detriment of our liberty. A news story from Reuters published at 11:54 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19: “The Obama administration will consider executive actions and specific proposals for legislation as part of its gun policy response to the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday (emphasis added).

It is obvious that more than one person knows we have a tremendous problem; the problem being that God is no longer an active part of the life of the majority of the people. In a letter to Voices, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, December 20, 2012, the writer expressed the sentiment of those of us who know the problem: “The answer is to put God back into America, just as he was put in by our founding fathers. Then remove all of these policies which support evil as good and good as evil. Then and only then will God bless America again.” But who will put God back into the republic? It won’t be the politicians who are not even mere shadows of the founders. The politicians of the current age are godless proponents of evil.

When those who claim to believe in God, when they begin to proclaim Jesus Christ to the lost, then God will begin to drive out evil through the power of his Word set in motion by believers. God will not drive out evil until people use the power of his Word in their daily lives, using it at each and every opportunity. Until that happens, all the pleading to God to do something will not change anything.

God was looking for a messenger and Isaiah answered the call. He said Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. (Isaiah 6:8) Personal salvation is up to each individual following the plan of God. The salvation of the republic is up to each individual also. The one that is worshipped, the government or God, will determine the future of the republic.  Whom Do You Worship?
