The news for our republic is not good as you all know. We are facing a peril that is unprecedented since the Revolutionary War. The assault on the republic, its citizens and way of life isn’t coming form outside our borders, except in marginal ways due to threats by Iran and other rogue nations.  The assault on our lives is coming form within at all levels of government from the top to the bottom; that is federal state, county and local. No longer can we do with our possessions as we wish. We must obtain permits and permission from the bureaucracies set up by politicians (governing bodies) at all levels. If you want to alter your hose in some way, obtain a permit; if you wish to do landscaping, obtain a permit. If that which you wish to do does not meet the approval of the various bureaucracies, the approval will be denied. You see, we do not live in a free republic any more.

Citizens are being prosecuted and jailed for not bowing to the demands of local governments. A man in Minnesota was jailed because his siding job didn’t meet the approval of the city code enforcers and then was allowed to wear an ankle bracelet so he could finish the job. However, the crux of the matter was simple. The manner in which he connected the stucco to the rock work didn’t meet the code inspector’s approval. It was do as I say or go to jail.

Believers in God have faced trouble with their cities for holding Bible studies in their homes. They have been warned and hauled into court for violating zoning ordinances or for having too many cars parked in their street or in their driveways. All it takes is one unhappy neighbor to make a complaint and the freedom and liberty we once enjoyed is taken by over jealous government enforcers.

Yet there is a greater peril and it is residing in the Oval Office. Whether the man is eligible or not is not the issue here. It is his and his follower’s unceasing assault on our Constitution and our national morality that is the issue. The man routinely issues orders that are not his to issue. There is mounting evidence that he has and is threatening those who have audacity to report the truth of his unconstitutional behavior. He lies as easily as water runs downhill and sadly, many believe every word he utters as if it is the gospel; the true gospel being that which those same ones will not believe. And those who do believe are castigated, denigrated and reviled for not honoring the man in the Oval Office.

Speaking of giving honor to anyone; those who would be honored must deserve to be honored. Paul wrote to the Romans that they were to follow the law since the rulers are God ordained and as such as duty bound to honor God’s principles of moral matters. Paul wrote in Romans 13:1-7, Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6  For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.Those laws that are in line with the laws of God are to be obeyed and the duty of the rulers is to deal with evil. When they do they are to receive all the tributes that godly rule give to them. 

But we have a man in the White House who is promoting evil of every sort. He panders to homosexuals of every kind and ridicules anyone who opposes the vile conduct. He champions abortion and reviles those of us who oppose it. He is for same sex marriage and defends as if it as a civil right. Those are but a few of his beliefs that are counter to our once held morality as a nation of the whole. Can anyone who knows the truth honestly honor the man in the Oval Office? Is he due any honor of any kind?

That brings the article to the final part of the subject. Paul wrote to the Corinthians the following in II Corinthians 6:14-15 concerning their mixing in their lives pagan idols and other unholy conduct after obeying the gospel. 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? In spite of the warning, believer after believer is guilty of putting party affiliation ahead of following the teachings of Jesus Christ and loyalty to God and voted for the man in the Oval Office because of  long held party beliefs. How can a believer in God and a follower of Jesus Christ, in good conscience, vote for a man who does not hold the values that are contained in the scriptures and which believers say they follow?

As the election in November draws nearer, each voter who claims to follow Jesus Christ and who consequently gives honor to God, must decide whom they will serve. Will it be the man in the Oval Office because party affiliation is stronger than belief in God and Christ or will it be as Joshua said in 24:14-15 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.  

Each individual must decide for whom they will vote. Will you vote to serve a party run by a man who lies, devalues our morals and sinks us deeper into debt with his ungodly behavior or will you lay aside party and vote for those who will honor our way of life even though we might not agree with all that the Oval Office man’s opponent says? The choice is yours to make. May your conscience guide you into making a good choice.
