When God gave the instructions to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, he
set forth a standard for behavior. Thus began the path for disobedience
to God by those who say they don’t believe it and don’t want to do it
and therefore they won’t. The idea of morals and standards for behavior
is repugnant to many. The individual mentioned in a previous lesson is
adamant in insisting that
a
universal standard of morals, mores and ethics have never existed,
saying that each culture developed their own standards. The
first underlined part of the previous sentence is false; the italicized
second part is true. His reason for denying a standard is that he
doesn’t believe in God and thinks that the Bible is a myth at best and
is a lie at the worst. The fact is that those societies which refused
God’s standard and created their own, have disappeared from the face of
the earth. In the modern world of today, we are witnessing the decline
of societies world wide as people create their own valueless standards.

|
The natural inclinations for many who read the Bible, or who use it for
their own spurious agenda, is to treat it like a smorgasbord. They pick
and choose what suits them and ignore what they dislike. Many subjects
in the scripture are treated in that manner, but we’ll dwell on the
current issue of time, homosexuality and same sex marriage. The
deviation from God’s standard is creating havoc in churches and states
across the land and the world.
|
|
If one of God’s standards is phony, then all of them are phony. That
means that all can do as they please when they please according to
whatever standard any given society creates for the people. Can you not
see the conflict that is created by such an ideology? That is what is
creating the problem with the homosexuals versus God and those who
follow God’s standard.

|
Several arguments are put forth to deny that practicing homosexuals
won’t be saved. One is that God loves everyone. He does, but God’s love
regarding salvation has a boundary and that boundary is a simple one.
The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (I Corinthians
6:9-10) If those two verses don’t state the boundaries of God’s love and
righteousness, then there isn’t any verse that states his requirements
for salvation. Yet, dissenters of all types, including many who call
themselves Christians or church goers, state that we live in a modern
time and the antiquated ideas no longer apply since we have evolved and
progressed into greater understanding of the needs of all people. Jesus
said in Matthew 7:13-14, Enter ye in at
the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
life, and few there be that find it.
Jesus well understood the needs of the people
and it is a life that walks the narrow way that leads to eternal life.
He said that few would find it and those who insist that homosexuality
is acceptable to God, are disregarding the narrow path God has set
before us in Christ.

One man who is running for President of the
United States in the year 2008, said, "I don't think that
homosexuals are immoral any more than I think heterosexuals are
immoral," he told Larry King on CNN. "I think that people are people and
to categorize one group of folks based on their sexual orientation that
way I think is wrong." This is the man who chastised others with "Folks
haven't been reading their Bibles." It is submitted that Mr. Obama
hasn’t been reading his Bible and if he has, he is using the smorgasbord
method of study. Very definitely, the man needs to ask himself, “Why
Don’t I Believe God?” given that he says he is a Christian having been
led to Christ. (This lesson will continue as Part V)
