Two letters to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Voices Section in September
2006, demonstrate the poor knowledge of the Bible and the life that God
intends for his believers to live. One writer said that the Episcopal
Bishop who accepted homosexual relationships set a good example in not
judging others for their beliefs and lifestyles. She further said that a
true follower of Jesus showing love doesn’t judge. Has the writer ever
read the Bible and studied what Jesus had to say about accepting sin and
lives that weren’t in conformance with God? That the bishop sets an
example to follow is true, but it isn’t the way of Christ and will lead
to destruction.

The other writer made an astounding revelation when she wrote that the
idea of homosexual blessings is not a perversion of sin. She went on to
say that it would be a big step to a better world to be accepted for who
you are. Then the most astounding sentence of all: To actually believe
that openly homosexual people are not Christians is an offensive
assumption. The lady needs to read the Bible about the old life and the
new way in Christ.

Both writers wrote of love and showed a complete lack of understanding
of the Greek meaning of the word. Their notion is that love encompasses
and allows homosexual behavior. Paul gives lie to that in the following
verses: [2 Corinthians 5:14] For the love of Christ constraineth
us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
[2 Cor 5:15] And that he died for all, that they which live should not
henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and
rose again. [2 Cor 5:16] Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the
flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now
henceforth know we him no more. [2 Cor 5:17] Therefore if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new. Please explain how allowing homosexual
behavior is constraining love for Christ: how it is not living for self
and not after the flesh: and how is it different from the old way of
life and is purportedly new?

The hue and cry in our society is for homosexual marriage. Even those
who say they are believers in God think it okay as do the writers of the
two letters. Those who claim to be believers must by necessity of that
belief have to accept that God is the giver of all things, including
marriage. In Genesis we find the following: [Gen 2:24] Therefore
shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his
wife: and they shall be one flesh. From the very
beginning of creation God gave us marriage of one man and one woman. How
then can marriage which is a man and a woman include homosexual liaisons
given God’s pattern and plan for life?

|
Proponents of same sex marriage claim that Jesus didn’t say anything
against homosexual marriages but they are wrong. He said plenty in the
context of the Law. He said: [Mat 5:17]
Think not that I am come to
destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Whatever the law said to do he did; whatever it prohibited
he didn’t do. In that context of fulfillment he said of marriage when
the Pharisees questioned him:
[Mat 19:3] The Pharisees also came
unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to
put away his wife for every cause? [Mat 19:4] And he answered and said
unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning
made them male and female, [Mat 19:5] And said,
For this cause shall a
man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they
twain shall be one flesh? [Mat 19:6] Wherefore they are no more twain,
but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put
asunder. For those who believe in homosexual marriage, please
explain how the words of Jesus include the sinful relationships of male
and female homosexuals.
|
|
Indeed, God’s word speaks of love and each one should love but it
doesn’t included perversion which isn’t the love of the Bible as seen in
the words of Jesus and the Apostles.
|
|
The two writers are wrong and In Sorting It Out, no pronouncement by
anyone, including so called bishops, can change the fact that Word of God
teaches that homosexual relationships are sin and remain to this day and
beyond, exceedingly sinful.
